I love the look of scrappy geometric quilts, yet as a fresh quilter I have a problem creating that are with my relatively modest fabric stash. This is where precut fabric packs come in. Charm Packs and Layer Cakes (we refer to them as Stacks right here at Connecting Threads) are great to make quilts that are colorful and scrappy, and they also are wonderful time savers too! In Schnibbles Times Two, Carrie Nelson has included loads of fantastic quilt patterns that use these fun and time-saving precuts. Each pattern is shown using 10" squares and 5" squares. Not merely does that make for just two different size options, but it signifies that quilters get to view each pattern in two different color combinations--something that is always beneficial to me when selecting a project. I'm excited to obtain started with all the Stacks and Charms I've collected within my stash--now I merely have to decide on what pattern! --connectingthreads.com

Charm packs and layer cakes are the focus of the book . . . Carrie explains how they may be best used, how many to buy, those pinked edges, and also the warp. You will find 12 patterns, each ones done in 5" squares and 10" squares. The book features lots of clever ideas for pretty and colorful quilts. I'm still not in love with these packs, but love the book. I do think I'll cut my squares from my stash! --Stick your Nose inside a Book: Quilting Book Reviews by Jennifer Zoeterman

Carrie Nelson, doing business as Miss Rosie's Quilt Company, has self published numerous quilt patterns. Her original designs have appeared in American Patchwork & Quilting and Australian Homespun.
